Epiroc, a global mining equipment manufacturer, was once part of the well-known Atlas Copco Group before rebranding and emerging as an independent identity in 2017. With its headquarters in Sweden and operations spread across the world, Epiroc has been powering the mining industry with the world’s most advanced machines for generations.
Yet, despite leading the charge on mechanical innovation, the logistics operations supporting the machines remained largely manual – scattered across emails, spreadsheets, and time zones.

The Problem Beneath the Surface
Behind every shipment, there was a time-consuming chain of actions: requesting freight quotes, chasing vendors for responses, comparing costs manually, and compiling performance reports.
“We were dealing with fragmented data and very limited visibility – especially around freight quotes,” recalls Rahul Sonar, Logistics Manager at Epiroc Mining India. “Without accurate data at hand, it was difficult to make timely and informed decisions.”
The lack of integration between operations created inefficiencies that couldn’t be ignored. As Epiroc continued to expand its global footprint, it became clear that the legacy systems couldn’t keep up, and it was time to adopt digitalization.
